Alleviating pressure in accessing food

The food FareShare Tayside & Fife provides Brewery Lane is used to provide essential cooking lessons alongside greatly appreciated welcome packs to new residents on arrivals. Senior Support Worker, Roberta, describes the importance of the cooking and budgeting lessons provided, and how the residents truly gain from the life skill lessons. She says “We aim to promote healthy eating and give the residence confidence in cooking. We show them what is possible if you budget and cook.”

Kate has been a resident at the homeless project for just over a month. She enjoys taking part in the cooking lessons  and expresses the alleviating pressure felt when she was welcomed with a food pack. The resident says “The cooking lessons are great, it is nice when everyone joins in and it is really communal.”

“The welcome pack of food I received when I arrived was ideal; it made me feel really welcome.”
