FareShare Tayside & Fife Supporting Brewery Lane

FareShare Tayside & Fife have been delivering food to Brewery Lane twice a week, making a significant impact on the lives of residents and staff. Roberta, a Senior Support Worker at the temporary accommodation, highlights the benefits of this partnership:

“Having our food provided by FareShare Tayside & Fife has saved us a lot of money, allowing us to invest those savings into other important activities. The convenience of food delivery is an added bonus, saving us valuable time.”

Roberta continues, “We are so grateful for the service FareShare Tayside & Fife provides and are proud to be part of reducing food waste. It feels good to use quality food that might otherwise have gone to waste. We also produce very minimal waste ourselves, rarely letting anything go to waste.”

Thanks to FareShare’s support, Brewery Lane has been able to introduce more variety into meals and expose the residents to new foods.

Alleviating Pressure in Accessing Food

The food supplied by FareShare Tayside & Fife is also used to facilitate essential cooking lessons and prepare welcome packs for new residents upon arrival. Roberta explains the value of these lessons:

“We aim to promote healthy eating and help residents build confidence in cooking. We show them what’s possible with budgeting and simple cooking skills.”

Kate, a resident at the homeless project for just over a month, shares her experience:

“The cooking lessons are great — it’s nice when everyone joins in; it’s really communal. The welcome food pack I received when I arrived was ideal; it made me feel really welcome.”
