How FareShare Tayside & Fife supports temporary accommodation
FareShare Tayside & Fife have been delivering food to Brewery Lane twice a week. Roberta, a staff member at the temporary accommodation, explains the benefits gained from working with FareShare Tayside & Fife: “Having our food provided by FareShare Tayside & Fife has saved us a lot of money, therefore enabling us to put the saved money to good use on various other activities. Having the food delivered is also an added bonus, which saves us a lot of time”.

Alleviating pressure in accessing food
The food FareShare Tayside & Fife provides Brewery Lane is used to provide essential cooking lessons alongside greatly appreciated welcome packs to new residents on arrivals. Senior Support Worker, Roberta, describes the importance of the cooking and budgeting lessons provided, and how the residents truly gain from the life skill lessons. She says “We aim to promote healthy eating and give the residence confidence in cooking. We show them what is possible if you budget and cook.”
Kate has been a resident at the homeless project for just over a month. She enjoys taking part in the cooking lessons and expresses the alleviating pressure felt when she was welcomed with a food pack. The resident says “The cooking lessons are great, it is nice when everyone joins in and it is really communal.”
