FareShare Tayside & Fife provides quality surplus food to over 90 community projects throughout Dundee, Perth & Kinross and Angus. The team redistributes food from both local and national suppliers, helping to address both food poverty and food waste in and around Dundee.
We are part of FareShare UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations. Together, we take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to nearly 9,500 frontline charities and community groups.
The food we redistribute is nutritious and good to eat. It reaches charities across the UK, including school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes. Every week we provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people.
FareShare Tayside & Fife supplies surplus food to charity and community groups in Dundee, Angus, Perth & Kinross, Fife and Clackmannanshire.
A Community Food Member is an organisation that receives food from FareShare Tayside & Fife. We charge £2.25 per tray, which ordinarily has a retail value of between £25-£40, this cost covers the sourcing, distribution, administration etc.
To become a member, you should be a community group requiring food, and a registered charity.
Transform Community Development is the local FareShare distributor, so much of the food we supply comes from the big supermarkets. But we also work with local producers, suppliers and distributors to ensure that more local surplus produce finds its way into your food.
All the food we handle complies fully with all HACCP regulations, and is fully traceable. We adhere to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene, and ask that organisations receiving food from us do the same.
