Annual Report 2023-24
Transform Community Development is proud to outline its achievements for the year ending 31 March 2024. As with previous years the organisation continues to support vulnerable adults and groups across the region. This year we again assisted more than one thousand individuals in moving on in their lives addressing many complex issues, whether that is through direct support or advice, the provision of food and/or furniture. Our housing first programme continues to be at the forefront of tackling and preventing homelessness with the city, at the time of writing the programme is actively working with 82 individuals.
Brewery Lane continues to support twenty-two individuals in preparation for independent or less supported tenancies.
Our FareShare Tayside & Fife food redistribution project has once again increased the volumes of food being redistributed from our depot and now is assisting over 150 different community organisations across the region.
Transform Furniture continues to provide furniture for individuals, families moving into new tenancy and assisted 401 this year. We also sell low-cost, high-quality furniture to the general public through our retail outlet in Dundee and are looking to increase upcycling and the sale of unique.
In the coming year, the organisation continues to work closely with partners with Dundee City Council to devise a successor to the current Rapid Rehousing Transition Plan, following the extension of the current plan by on year. This will see the continued development and re-imagining of the Housing First model; to meet the challenges we face in term homelessness
and housing support within the city. and the continuation of the Recovery Worker role therein. The Corra Foundation’s Improvement Fund, have extended the funding of the embedded Recovery Worker position for a further three years, based on the success of the previous two.
Significant renovation works have taken place to ensure that the temporary accommodation at Brewery Lane remains at a high standard. These works are part of planned programme of maintenance and renovation which will continue in the coming years.
Transform Furniture continue to develop strategies to increase income. We have exited our referral arrangement with Perth & Kinross Council to consolidate services within Dundee, which has seen an increase in donations/collections, retail sales and referrals. We continue to look at opportunities and mechanisms to sell more unique pieces of furniture on-line via specialist websites. We also plan to develop volunteering and employability
opportunities for those with an interest in furniture repair and upcycling.
FareShare Tayside & Fife continues to support over 150 Community Food Members (CFMs) across Tayside, Fife and Clackmannanshire by supplying high quality surplus food. We have worked hard with CFMs to ensure that they are able to accept the changing produce available. Unfortunately, we have had to increase our Community Charge by 11% to support the increasing costs in storage and delivery of produce, although this has not resulted in any drop off in volume of CFMs. We are working closely with FareShare UK on convergence in several areas, primarily health & safety and the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
