Thank you to Emma McAndrew and the team at That's TV Tayside for the opportunity to speak about the latest findings from the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership report, which highlights a significant reduction in the number of empty homes in Dundee.

As of the latest count, Dundee has 1,014 empty homes, with 557 classified as long-term vacant. This marks a decrease of 1,724 properties, more than half, compared to figures from September 2023. The majority of these homes are privately owned and have been unoccupied for over a year.

It’s vital that owners are encouraged and supported to bring these properties back into use. Doing so will help individuals and families transition from temporary accommodation into permanent homes, strengthening the city’s housing supply.

This progress comes nearly a year after Dundee City Council’s Empty Homes Strategy was approved. Residents can report empty properties or seek advice by contacting [email protected] or calling 01382 435587.

For those who didn't see the broadcast, it can be found here and the full Scottish Empty Home Partnership Annual Report 2024/2025 can be found here
